太古の海水が湧く、雪国の名湯

― 松之山温泉 ―

松之山温泉は、新潟県十日町市の豪雪地帯の山あいに湧く、歴史ある温泉地です。

その湯は単なる温泉ではなく、約1,200万年前〜1,000万年前に地中に閉じ込められた古い海水（化石海水）が源泉とされる、非常に珍しい温泉です。

この古代の海水は長い年月をかけて塩分を濃く含み、深い地圧と地下熱の影響で温められながら湧き出しています。

また、松之山温泉は日本三大薬湯のひとつとして位置づけられ、古くから湯治や療養の地として、病気や肌の回復にも親しまれてきました。

今も谷あいの静かな環境の中で、雪深い自然とともに硫黄の香りや、湯けむりが立ち上る風景を楽しみながら、身も心も暖まる体験ができます。

2日目は松之山の美人林でスノーシューハイキング、越後妻有里山現代美術館で芸術鑑賞、お昼は繁蔵 田麦そば、をお楽しみください。

・1日目のランチは妻有ポークが人気な　とんかつつまり　にてお召し上がりください。
・夜は、六本木リューズ『飯塚シェフ』レシピ提供で津南産の食材を使って地元料理人が作った雪灯弁当となります。

Enjoy the Night of the Snow Festival with Hot Springs

After experiencing the enchanting scene of the Tsunan Snow Festival Sky Lanterns, you will stay overnight at "Shirakawaya Ryokan" nestled in Matsuyama Onsen.

Shirakawaya Ryokan is a long-established hot spring inn that has been loved for many years.

With its calm atmosphere and hospitality, it offers a comforting stay that feels as if you are blending into the everyday life of a snowy region.

— An Ancient Seawater Hot Spring in a Snow Country —

— Matsunoyama Onsen —

Matsunoyama Onsen is a historic hot spring area that springs forth in the mountainous, heavy-snow region of Tokamachi City, Niigata.

This hot spring is not just any onsen. Its source is believed to be ancient seawater (fossil seawater) that was trapped underground approximately 12 to 10 million years ago, making it an extremely rare type of hot spring.

Over countless years, this ancient seawater became highly concentrated with salt and, warmed by deep underground pressure and geothermal heat, now emerges naturally to the surface.

Matsunoyama Onsen is also recognized as one of Japan’s three great medicinal hot springs, and has long been cherished as a place for therapeutic bathing and recuperation, known for aiding recovery from illness and improving skin conditions.

Even today, in the quiet valley setting, you can enjoy the scent of sulfur and the sight of steam rising amid deep snow and pristine nature, warming both body and soul.

On Day 2, enjoy a snowshoe hiking experience in Matsunoyama’s Bijinbayashi Forest, a visit to the Echigo-Tsumari Satoyama Museum of Contemporary Art, and lunch featuring Soba noodles at "Shigezo Tamugi".

＜Meals＞

・For lunch on Day 1, please enjoy a meal at "Tonkatsu Tsumari", famous for its Tsumari pork.

・Dinner: “Yukiakari Bento,” prepared by local chefs using ingredients from Tsunan, based on recipes provided by Chef Iizuka from Roppongi Ryuzu
